about

The first is from a recording of Annie Mackenzie ‘Anna Sheumais’ and tells of the children of the village being up with the lark before even the blacksmith had woken. The second is about a grand ball where the crowds gathered and had quite the party. I got this one from the recordings that Jessie MacKenzie made. The pipe tunes are ones I’ve played for many years now and enjoyed the combination with these puirt. The first is a P/M Donald MacLeod setting of a traditional reel and hen
one his own compositions, Kildonan.
